A lesson I never expected to learn

For a long time, I have wanted to return to writing. I have missed sharing the experiences, people, and lessons that have shaped this journey. But before I could continue, I needed to take time to reflect on something that had been weighing on me.

Throughout this journey, I have met so many incredible people. Some have been excited to follow my journey, to be a part of it, and even to be included in my blogs. I have felt grateful that people wanted to share these moments with me and be a part of the memories I was creating. But after writing for a while, I started to realize something I had never truly thought about before;

What does it actually mean for someone to be a part of my story? What does it require for someone to feel seen, valued, and included in the stories I share?

I began reflecting on how it might feel for someone who was there during these moments with me. Someone who shared experiences, memories, and parts of my journey, and who quietly expected that they would also be included in the story I was telling. Not because I had made a promise, but because they were present, they cared, and they felt connected to the journey because of the experiences we shared, the memories we created, and the moments that meant something.

I realized that even though my intention was never to exclude anyone, the choices I made about what I shared and what I left out could still create feelings of being forgotten or overlooked. I understand  that sometimes the absence of someone’s story can speak just as loudly as the words I choose to write. I have always been careful with my words, knowing that they can have an impact. But I never fully understood that the words I choose not to write could also affect people. The moments I leave out, the experiences I do not share, and the people I do not mention may unintentionally create a feeling of exclusion, even when that was never what I wanted.

That realization has been difficult for me. I have found myself feeling responsible for the people who may have felt left out, because I know how it feels to not feel included. Looking back, I wish I had been more aware of how my blogs could affect the people around me. I never wanted anyone to feel like their presence, support, or the memories we shared were less important. The truth is that I have always cherished those moments. I deeply value the friendships and connections I have built throughout this journey. However, I did not always understand that others could also feel a sense of belonging to the story I was creating, and that my silence or absence of their stories could unintentionally hurt.

Because of this, I chose to step back from writing these past few months. Instead of looking back and trying to rewrite moments. I wanted to focus on being fully present with the people around me, showing my appreciation, care, and gratitude through my actions, not only through words that I write. I never imagined that something created from a place of passion, gratitude, and a desire to share meaningful moments could make someone feel so unseen. That was never my intention. My goal has always been to celebrate the people, experiences, and lessons that have shaped me.

I still do not have all the answers on how to make everything right, but I know that I want to move forward with more awareness, honesty, kindness, and understanding. This journey has taught me that sharing a story is not only about the words we choose to write, but also about recognizing and honouring the people who are a part of it. I may not be able to change the moments that have already passed, but I can learn from them.

To everyone who has walked alongside me, supported me, and shared moments with me.

Thank you. Whether your story was written publicly or held quietly in my heart, your presence has mattered, and it always will.

And I am truly sorry for any pain I may have caused, and I hope you know that it was never my intention to make you feel unseen or unvalued.

Lots of love ♥
