I often get the question how I can participate in Miss Norway while living abroad parts of the year, so let me explain this:
First off, most of the communication we use today is online and it is easy to communicate, so it does not really matter If you are in different parts of Norway or in another country, as long as you are able to work closely with Norwegian partners and be on time and participate on the required events. I will say I travel back home 3-4 times a year (this year even more) which is the same amount of times that my friend that live in Bergen travels home at year.
Second by planning different events in my hometown a head I have been able to fulfill all my plans so far. In 5 days this January I had 3 meetings, 2 charity projects, 2 interviews and 1 photo shoot – It was all about perfect planning. My communication with all my journalists is also online. Today everything is online an are able to communicate so easy together and work together. I can not say how thankful I am for all the support and my amazing team. #TeamBecca
Third, the experiences and connections I get from abroad is amazing. I work with people from Norway, US, Korea, Sweden, Canada, India, etc. Which gives me the ability to promote a different approach n the competition but also to learn about different cultures and backgrounds. Which I think a Miss Norway or Miss Universe should be all about. Understanding others and come together as a unit. I bring a lot of my Norwegian background and promote Norway and Miss Norway to the people I met, and we create a positive awareness for Norway. As well as I want to bring the experiences and knowledge I want back to Norway and our people here. I think this create a global understanding and connection/
I will see it as a opportunity and great inspiration that I am abroad. I did my Bachelor degree and other studies in other countries as well as working and that is something I have learned a lot from. I will inspire Norwegian girls to the same, and I believe that you can do whatever you want or that you dream of as long as you work for it. When people questioned me being abroad I tell them that I decided that I would make it work, and instead of view it as a handicap, I saw it as an opportunity to stand out and be different. Different might be scary but it can be good. I am now in the top 10 out of Miss Norway, and I will work as hard as I can to deserve my spot here and reach for the crown.
Lots of Love
Becca
